This unit introduces learners to the practical skills required to carry out elementary hair cutting services using scissors and clippers in a commercial or training environment. Learners will demonstrate safe, professional cutting techniques while working on clients or models.

The course focuses on conducting client consultations and hair analysis, identifying hair growth patterns and tendencies, and applying correct sectioning and guideline techniques. Learners will complete both clipper cuts and solid form haircuts within industry timeframes, using appropriate tools and methods.

Assessment is practical and based on assessor observation. Learners must show competence in producing clean, accurate clipper cuts and solid form haircuts of any length, following visible guides and professional cutting practices.

Completion of Unit 33210 (Demonstrate knowledge of haircutting foundations), or equivalent skills and knowledge, is required prior to assessment.
