
This unit assesses the learner’s ability to demonstrate knowledge of and apply shampoo and treatments to the hair and scalp through practical and written assessments.
Assessment includes:

Practical (Assessor Observation): Three services on clients/models

Shampoo and condition long hair

Shampoo and treatment on lightened hair

Shampoo prior to a chemical service (flat hand technique)
Learners must use appropriate products, follow manufacturer instructions, remove impurities, perform effective massage techniques (e.g., friction, effleurage, petrissage, tapotement), and achieve an industry-standard finish within 60 minutes.

Written Assignment (Open Book, Unsupervised): Demonstrate understanding of shampoo and treatment services and their effects on different hair types, including long hair, lightened hair, and hair prior to chemical services.
Prior evidence must include documented services as per the training record book. Learners are assessed on consultation, product selection, technique, treatment application, and accurate client record updates.
