This unit assesses the learner’s ability to demonstrate knowledge of the foundations of hair design through a written assignment (open book, unsupervised).

The assignment covers:

  • How client requirements and physical factors influence finished hairstyles

  • Bones of the head and their impact on style

  • Placement techniques to create volume, curl, and directional movement

  • Principles of pin curling

  • Moulding wave patterns to achieve desired hair design outcomes

Learners are assessed on their understanding of hair design theory and ability to apply these principles to planning professional hairstyles.
